So here in North Carolina, Winter decided to rear her ugly head a little earlier than usual and needless to say, we're freezing our asses off already. And when you're cold in the South, it's an absolute necessity to put on a liquor coat. But we wanted to kick things up a notch, so we came up with a cocktail to help start that fire and get your blood moving a little faster.
This cocktail is called the Fire Starter and with a kick of hot sauce and some Carolina bourbon, it ought to do just that!

It's finally beginning to feel like Fall here in the Carolinas. And in our neck of the woods, Fall and apples go hand in hand. So we decided to up the ante and throw apple butter AND whiskey into the mix.
"Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit!" What? You were thinking it too!
This drink is easy to make and tastes so good, it could make you slap your mama.

(Word to the wise: maybe don't slap your mama and just make another cocktail instead)

This easy to make, perfect for batching, cocktail recipe also won "Best Cocktail" at the Prohibition Hot Rod and Moonshine Festival in September.

Pig in Manhattan

It goes without saying that bacon makes everything better. So we decided to upgrade one of our favorite classic cocktails, the Manhattan, with a hint of bacon, and it did not disappoint!

Your classic Manhattan calls for whiskey, sweet vermouth and bitters. We upped the ante with a key ingredient, Bacon Brown Sugar Simple Syrup. I know, I know, it sounds like a lot of work, but trust me, it's easier than you think. Plus, if you make enough, this simple syrup can add some fun to another classic cocktail, the Old Fashioned, but we'll save that for another day.

What's there not to like about that?!

This cocktail is not only refreshing and tasty, it's delicious too! We made this for Beer, Bourbon and BBQ in Cary, NC last weekend and it was such a hit that we ran out halfway through the festival, so we knew we had to share it with all of you.

The best part? It goes with all three of our whiskeys!

Maple New York Sour

7/9/2019

The New York Sour is basically a classic whiskey sour with a red wine float.

I know what you're thinking. Red wine float? With whiskey and lemon juice? And maple syrup? No thank you. But I promise it just amplifies this already delicious cocktail. Let me break it down for you:

The New York sour is amazingly balanced with sweetness from the Maple Whiskey and maple syrup. The lemon juice adds tartness in contrast. The whiskey adds warmth while the red wine adds a depth of flavor that elevates the cocktail.

We have made this cocktail for a couple of different events here recently and it has been a huge hit, so we wanted to share it with all of you.
Our Spiked Berry Lemonade is incredibly easy to make on a small scale or for your next backyard BBQ. You can also mix up the lemonade without the booze, so you and your guests can choose your own spirit to enjoy (plus, it's safe for the kiddos to enjoy this way too).

This North Carolina company makes delicious shrubs, or drinking vinegars, in a variety of flavors that are perfect to spice up your favorite cocktails. We chose their Blueberry Lemon flavor for our whiskey sour and boy, was it the right choice.

So we're a day late, but not a drink short this week. And this one is delicious. We made this Lavender Whiskey Lemonade for Find Your Spirit Festival this past weekend in Asheville and it was such a hit, we just had to share it with everyone this week for Boozeday Tuesday.

Lavender is known for its relaxing properties and who doesn't love to relax on a porch with some lemonade on  nice Carolina spring or summer day? Only a crazy person would say that doesn't sound appealing. So how do you get refreshed and relaxed with a Lavender Whiskey Lemonade?

It's finally Spring thyme! See what I did there?
We keep hearing that Maple is a fall flavor, but this cocktail throws that opinion right into the trash. And who doesn't love a classically made whiskey sour? Only the crazies, that's who. So without further ado, here's how you make the Maple Thyme Sour...

Do you know what kind of cocktails are my favorite? Well, truthfully, I'll try almost anything, but cocktails that combine craft beer and bourbon are at the top of my list. But if you find a cocktail that doesn't just stop at beer and bourbon, but goes further with fresh fruit, herbs and raw sugar, you, my friend, have found yourself a winner. Thus, we give you the Black-beery Bourbon.

Sazerac (Warehouse Style)

1/8/2019

The Sazerac is thought to be one of the (if not the) first American cocktails with origins in pre-Civil War New Orleans. The defining feature of this cocktail is its preparation method, which commonly involves two chilled rocks glasses. The first glass is swirled with a wash of absinthe, while the second is used to combine the remaining ingredients (rye whiskey, bitters,  and sugar) over ice.

Bootlegger Joe

The Bootlegger Joe is smooth, slightly sweet with a touch of coffee and a splash of orange. It's a great after dinner or anytime sipper. Even if whiskey isn't your thing, this drink could have you changing your mind.

You can use bourbon or rye whiskey for this cocktail depending on your desired flavor. Bourbon will be a little bit more mild and allow the coffee liqueur and orange liqueur to do more talking, while Rye Whiskey is a little bit more spice forward being the foremost ingredient of this cocktail.
