This cocktail is the perfect sipper for that September in the South weather. It's refreshing and delightful with fresh grapefruit juice, homemade mint simple syrup and the South's favorite spirit, whiskey.
Mint Simple Syrup: 1 cup packed fresh mint leaves 1 cup sugar 1 cup water
Bring all ingredients to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir over heat until all sugar is dissolved. Strain mint out. Keep in fridge for two weeks in airtight container.
3oz grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
1.5oz Boundary Street Bourbon OR Boundary Street Rye
1oz mint simple syrup (see above recipe)
2 dash orange bitters
2 dash cinnamon bitters
Directions: Combine all ingredients in a shaker pint. Shake well. Strain into chilled martini or coupe glass. Garnish with grapefruit wedge and mint sprigs.
